The story of the Koleman Czito Monument began with an idea, action, and a phone call from the President of Friends of Maple Grove Queens, NY Carl Ballenas to Patric Ryan in Colorado Springs, CO.
That spark connecting Nikola Tesla to his friend and assistant Coleman Czito, quickly grew into a current, from this current it jolted and created a new life network of connections; Lewis Latimer…Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River MA and now the circuit is formed with Maple Grove, Kew Gardens, NY. The Paradox of Time is a unique approach to capturing an essence of Genius. As the short line, or dash between dates carved into Granite symbolizes a lifetime, we seek our own meaning in actions, ideas and eternal praise. Our Czito Monument is a testament to such an endeavor. The stone itself; this Keystone lightning granite embodies the power of great minds that very literally changed the course of Mankind. On the face; “Kolman”, as he immigrated to the United States from his native Hungary Coleman Czito carved into the density of granite along with his dates of life…The bronze sculpture portraying Coleman, holding an illuminated bulb in an electrical experiment with Nikola Tesla, along with his son Julius Czito completing the circuit…Tesla silver and the stainless-steel ring maintaining connection. On the reverse; The porcelain dais of Wardenclyffe Laboratory and Tower. Forever a symbol of a visionary for a better world. The Stainless-Steel ring, again maintaining connections. The names and life dates of beloved family, along with the name of Nikola Tesla’s last living ‘assistant’ Patric Ryan…The beloved Pigeon carved by sculptor Samantha Newman Kearns adds an eloquence of humanity to the entire monument. As with all aspects of life, there are so many people to thank and embrace, we are all connected.
